The following conclusion is based on the Data Provided Via On-Line Queries: A Single 55 Gallon Barrel Of Crude Oil == Only 19.74 gallons of GASOLINE...!!!

With That Being The TRUTH---Why is The World-Still USING GASOLINE...in ANY Form...???

In Actuality, The COSTS Associated With Cleaning Up OIL SPILLS, Drilling, Hauling, Refining, I Gallon Of Crude Oil Far OUTWAY IT'S Value To The World Continuing IT's ARTIFFICALLY CREATED Demand For The UNNECESSARY Final Product Produced...!!!

In 1899 about the time OIl was First Discovered--The Benefits From ITS' Discovery & USE BACK THEN---PRESENTLY in 2008 HAVE BECOME UNNECESSARY and OBSOLETE...!!

Quite Honestly, Since About The End of 1945 ALL Human's-Animal's-& Our Food Sources-Have In Effect Become Toxic, Toxin Carriers and Litterally OUR-selves Chemically Altered By Our Breathing IN Airborn Toxins, Consuming Toxin Laided Vegetables-Fish Harvested From The TOXICIN DUMPING GROUNDS OUR Worlds Oceans- Food Subjected To SCIENCETICFIC Genetic HANKY-PANKY..!!!

The Exsistence of Alternatives To Oil Based Vehicles IS At Least 65 Years Old--But It Has Been SUPPREASED By BIG OIL Companies-Like BP-Exxon, Mobile, Halliburtin, et. al---DisBelieve These Inmutable FACTS At Your Continuing Peril...!!!

I alway thought of the crude oil to products ratio like this:

Tar and diesel are big molecules and gasoline and propane are small - when blended they have a smaller volume than when separated.

It's like grains of sand (light ends) fitting between big stones (heavy ends).

You bring up a good point - it's a volume (not mass) based business and the total product volume increases due to the properties of the products.
